Our next screening is at 7 pm Thursday 21 November at the Greek Atlas Community Centre with the documentary feature film 90 Years of PAOK: Nostalgia for the Future directed by Nikos Triantafillidis (1966-2016).
A documentary that chronicles 90 years in the history of the legendary football club PAOK (Pan-Thessalonian Athletic Club of Constantinopolitans) established in 1926 by refugees from Istanbul, it is about much more than football. It is about the identity of Thessalonicans and Northern Greece. It is the story of refugees, old and new. It provides a unique window into cultural difference and identity in Greece, while also painting a fascinating portrait of change in the world of popular sport.

Ένα ντοκιμαντέρ αφηγείται τα ενενήντα χρόνια της θρυλικής ομάδας ΠΑΟΚ (Πανθεσσαλονίκειος Αθλητικός Όμιλος Κωνσταντινουπολιτών) που ιδρύθηκε το 1926 από πρόσφυγες. Δεν μιλά μόνο για ποδόσφαιρο αλλά για την ταυτότητα των Θεσσαλονικέων και της βόρειας Ελλάδας γενικότερα. Είναι η ιστορία της προσφυγιάς, παλιάς και πρόσφατης, και ανοίγει ένα μοναδικό παράθυρο στις πολιτιστικές διαφορές και ταυτότητες της Ελλάδας. Παράλληλα, προσφέρει ένα ενδιαφέρων πορτρέτο των αλλαγών που έχει υποστεί το λαϊκό σπόρ του ποδοσφαίρου.
