SUNTAN (2016) 104 ́(Dir. Argyris Papadimitropoulos)

The brilliant Makis Papadimitriou stars in this devastating portrait of a middle-aged doctor who becomes obsessed with a young female holiday reveller on the Aegean island where he works. The film charts the doctor’s growing dysfunction as he desperately tries to share in the hedonistic freedom of the young tourists he has met. It builds to a dramatic finale. One of the strongest recent films out of Greece, it has won a string of awards, including Best International Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Ο έξοχος Μάκης Παπαδημητρίου πρωταγωνιστεί σ’ αυτό το καθηλωτικό πορτραίτο ενός
μεσήλικα γιατρού ο οποίος παθαίνει εμμονή με μια νεαρή τουρίστρια στο νησί όπου
υπηρετεί. Η ταινία ξεδιπλώνει μαεστρικά την σταδιακή παραφορά του γιατρού καθώς
προσπαθεί απεγνωσμένα να μυηθεί στην παρέα των νέων και στην ηδονιστική τους
ελευθεριότητα. Η κατάληξη είναι δραματική. Μια από τις πιο δυνατές ελληνικές ταινίες των τελευταίων χρόνων, έχει αποσπάσει σειρά βραβείων μεταξύ των οποίων και το Βραβείο Καλύτερης Διεθνούς Ταινίας, Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Εδιμβούργου.

Back Held Hands (2017) 120 ́(Dir. Nikos Kornilios)

After a heart attack, a veteran actor and estranged father persuades his two daughters to
stage a version of Macbeth with him. A cross-cultural story that explores questions of aging, power, obsession and the moral issues that lie at the nexus between art and life. An actor’s director, Kornilios’ films continually explore new styles and ideas, in this case the collateral damage around a self-obsessed artist.

Η τέχνη καταστρέφει (2017) 120 ́(Σκ. Νίκος Κορνήλιος)

Μετά από ένα καρδιακό επεισόδιο, ένας καταξιωμένος ηθοποιός και αποξενωμένος πατέρας πείθει τις δύο του κόρες να ανεβάσουν μαζί μια εκδοχή του Μακβέθ. Διαπολιτισμική ιστορία που καταπιάνεται με τα γηρατειά, την εξουσία, την εμμονή και τα ηθικά διλήμματα που γεννά η σύνδεση ζωής και τέχνης. Κατεξοχήν σκηνοθέτης ηθοποιών, ο Κορνήλιος εξερευνά διαρκώς νέες ιδέες και τεχνικές· στην προκειμένη περίπτωση τις παράπλευρες απώλειες που συνοδεύουν έναν εγωκεντρικό καλλιτέχνη.
